Watching the Under23 game v Reading
Only 10 minutes from home so thought I’d come and watch the reserves.
Stood on a muddy touch line, freezing cold, windy and raining. I must be bonkers.

my argument was that they are very quick to save money at any cost rather than spend what is needed on healthy players fit for the first team starting XI.

The point of the u23’s is to develop players for the first team.
Players going out on loan is a good thing for their development and the next step to seeing whether they can make the jump by playing for points against men.
Hopefully the u23’s win their league and go back to the top league as they will then be tested more but winning things at that level is secondary

Both Holland and Coventry played yesterday.

I'm not sure if Holland did much before being taken off on 67 minutes in a 0-0 draw.

Coventry played for 76 minutes and got booked. Lincoln were 2-1 up when he went off and went on to win 5-1. He's a defensive midfielder so maybe the yellow card shows that he is up to it physically.

Joe Powell was actually sold yesterday to Burton Albion, so maybe Krap not Pu has a point, although I think if he was going to make the grade it would have been obvious by now as he's 21.

Jesus fucking christ, what an absolute car crash of a post. You sound like a 14 year old girl whose first love has just binned her. Utterly pathetic.

I was there too Old Geezer.
Bloody cold.
I’ve enjoyed watching the Under 23s in recent seasons.
It’s proper football, but I have to say standing on that grass bank with the wind and during the latter stages that driving rain in my face wasn’t what I had expected when I drove down from Bedford.
And watching our youngsters throw away a 2-1 lead and then a 3-2 lead to draw a game they ought to have won, well fifty years of watching West Ham just rolled by.
Some things never change.

Nothing to do with them gaining valuable playing experience at a lower level rather than learning how to sit on a bench then?

The owners are massive pricks, that goes without saying - but this is a whole new level of pinning shit on them!

Best 3 players missing ...no Joe Powell , and both Nathan Holland and Conor Coventry out on loan. Makes one laugh when our tight fisted owners can loan out players to save a few bob ...when our current squad is threadbare and pretty poor.

Cheers mate. It sounded like we lost a great opportunity to get 3 points.

I hope a few of them get a chance with the first team at some point.

Stand out players for me
Kemp and Diallohave great ability but slight frames. If they fill out (Diallo is only 16) they are very promising.
Rosa and Cardoso look ready to step up.
I thought Ngakia also showed great energy and could get there in the future.
Just the thoughts of a old boy who has been following the Irons for 60 years but very much an amateur assessor.
